Projects / Cole Ave Renovation
Our unique kitchen design is part of our major renovation project of a semi-detached residence over 2 floors. This older existing unit was gutted down to the studs and the entire layout of home was redesigned. Built with conventional development standards, this kitchen and dining area was previously subdivided, along with the living room beyond.
The client brief requested to open up the space, include a new island / bar and dining area. However, within the allowable space, all of these requests would have been smaller in nature, fragmented and not flowing smoothly from one to the other.
In response to the challenging mandate, the refreshing concept of an island table was soon born.
We proposed a kitchen design with a custom 7'-0 x 5' wide island table that truly becomes the nucleus, having all functions revolve around it.
The sleek, slanted body of this multi-purpose and functional island/dining table, discreetly tucks storage cabinetry to the east side facing the patio doors, and has a slot at the kitchen side where the dish washer slides in.
Using beautiful walnut wood veneer finish and clever carpentry, the whole unit was successfully molded into shape.
The side slopes are functional as well, to allow for comfortable leg room and seating all around it.
The dropped ceiling continues all the way to the unit mounted on the wall and falls down 4' off the ground.
Custom LED lighting strips neatly accentuate the unit, as it glows behind the custom its white floating display shelves.
When the 5 blue and aqua tinted glass pendants light up the space, its myriad of colors splash superbly onto the white quartz table and walls.
The matching blue and aqua mosaic backsplash perfectly ties the muted contemporary white high gloss kitchen cabinetry, in honor of this island table.
